A kidnap suspect, Mr John Onwudiwe, has disclosed the major hideout of his gang to the police.

Onwudiwe, who was paraded before newsmen by Mr Linus Nwaiwu, the Public Relations Officer of the Imo Police Command, said their hideout was located at Ukwa village in Rivers.

He said that he had been in the kidnap business for six years and added that the last mission which led to his arrest on Sunday was spearheaded by one Onyekwere, who was allegedly killed during the police shoot-out.

It would be recalled  that five members of the gang had attacked and abducted one Mrs Rita Onyeahala on Sunday at the Ohaji/Egbema St Andrew’s Catholic Church.

Police promptly responded to the attack, killed one, arrested another, while the rest escaped.

Onwudiwe, who hails from Rivers, pleaded to be set free, promising not to indulge in kidnapping again.

He advised other kidnappers to shun their act, saying that his situation should be a big lesson to all of them.

The     police spokesman said the command was working hard to find and arrest the three fleeing kidnap suspects. noting that  the kidnapped Onyeahala had been rescued without any harm done to her.

Nwaiwu said the police could only manage crime in the state through useful information from the public, and called on Imo people to always provide relevant information that could lead to the arrest of hoodlums in the state.
