Ikuru Lists Importance Of Unity Road Project
The on-going Unity Road project linking Ogoni, Andoni, Nkoro and Opobo communities in Rivers State would soon be completed to facilitate rapid social and economic development of the area.
The State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru who stated this at an enlarged Andoni stakeholders meeting in Port Harcourt at the weekend, said that the economic potentials of the area would come to limelight with the completion of the Unity Road project which could remove the economic and social challenges encountered by the state government and investors.
He noted that the cost and risk involved in transporting building materials and equipment to riverine communities, had contributed immensely to the crawling socio-economic development of the areas.
He identified absence of roads as a major factor that accounted for uncompleted and abandoned projects in Andoni by the past governments in the State.
The Deputy Governor urged Andoni people to support the government of Governor Chibuike Amaechi in maintaining security and peaceful environment that would enhance the completion of the Unity Road and other on-going road projects especially the one from Kaa in Ogoni land to Ataba in Andoni.
Ikuru told the Andoni people that the main purpose of the meeting was to thank them for their massive support in the re-election of Governor Amaechi, assuring that the governor’s second outing would witness another phase of development.
He commended the people of Andoni for standing by him to ensure the governorship victory of Amaechi in the April polls, pointing out that Andoni local government area was among the three council areas that recorded highest votes for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
