Flight Cancellations Worry Aero Passengers

All does not seem to be well with Aero Contractors, one of the domestic airlines in the country as passengers who were scheduled to travel to Warri, Delta State were stranded due to flight cancellations for two consecutive days.

The company which attributed the flight cancellations to operational problems apologised to the passengers for the inconvenience suffered arising from the unanticipated development.

The passengers who were about 25 in number expressed anger with the staff of the company as they arrived at the Nigeria Airforce Base, Port Harcourt to board their flight to Warri.

Some of them complained that their flight to Warri had been cancelled two consecutive days within the week for no explicit reason, stressing that the company was not bothered about what they had lost by not meeting up their engagements.

Our investigation revealed that Aero Contractors that used to be one of the dependable airlines in the recent past has lost a large chunk of customers as a result of organisational problems.

The Tide also gathered that “the on-line promotion” embarked upon by the company to shore up customers has rather compounded its problems as they actually got more customers that booked on-line because of the reduced fares.

A source in the company explained that “most of the passengers booked their tickets during the on-line promotion and given the rising cost of aviation fuel it would be counter-productive for a company to go on such flight”.

He pointed out the management made a great mistake by allowing the on-line promotion to last for a long period of time and attributed the flight cancellations mostly to this development.

Our investigation further revealed some of the flights were also hired by multinational companies for their operations thus resulting in flight cancellations by the airline operator.
