The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, has approved the allocation of mass housing plots to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to build affordable houses for its staff.

A statement issued in Abuja by Muhammad Sule, Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, said the approval was given when the management team of NNPC visited the minister.

The minister, according to the statement, said the approval would enable the NNPC contribute its quota to the development of the FCT through corporate social responsibility activities.

Mohammed charged the NNPC management to work towards checking the activities of those who sell petroleum products in black markets, especially in the city centre.

He said the NNPC Mega Station in the Central Business District of Abuja would be moved to a befitting location to check traffic congestion.

Earlier, the NNPC Group Managing Director, Mr Austin Oninwo, congratulated the minister on his re-appointment into the Federal Executive Council.

He acknowledged that the minister’s re-appointment was a testimony of the quality leadership he provided during the last dispensation and urged him to continue with his work.

Oninwo noted that mass housing would be for the benefit of the staff, adding that it would go a long way in easing their problem of accommodation.
