Enyeama Renders Apology Over Misconduct

Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has apologised to the team for causing distractions during the squad’s preparations ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualification match against Madagascar last weekend.

Enyeama, who moved to Lille during the summer transfer season, disagreed with the travel arrangements made by the Nigeria Football Federation thereby delaying the team’s departure from Abuja.

Coach Samson Siasia reacted by dropping him to the bench in their 2-0 victory over the Barea and he returned to France ahead of the 3-1 loss to Argentina in their friendly match last week.

“I apologise to coach Samson Siasia, my team-mates, the NFF and all the Nigerian fans of which I am one, who were all focused on the big game in Madagascar,” Enyeama said in a press release.

“I will also try and apologise to the coach privately later in the week so that he knows my apology is sincere.

“I certainly didn’t intend to distract the team. I’ve always known who the captain of the Super Eagles is. This was all a big distraction and I would like all of us to come together as a big family and move on.

“I am a cheerful, easy going person and this incident should be left in the past where it belongs.
