Ebonyi To Launches “Operation Excellence” In Education

The Ebonyi government is to launch a programme aimed at enhancing the quality of education in the state, the Commissioner for Education,Mr Chibueze Agbo, has said.

Agbo who disclosed this in Abakaliki,during his maiden meeting with principals and vice-principals of post-primary schools, said the scheme would be called “Operation Excellence.”

Agbo noted that the programme would also seek to reposition the sector “to reciprocate the state government’s enormous investments in it’’.

“The programme will monitor and capture daily activities in our schools; involve relevant stakeholders in the administration of the sector, inject attitudinal change philosophy, and eject undesirable elements from the system. “It would also enlighten relevant stakeholders of the government’s direction in education, provide basic facilities for effective learning, enhance teachers’ welfare and ensure adequate training/ re-training of teachers,” he said.

Agbo also stated that the programme would also address “the incessant” conflicts between principals and vice-principals of the state secondary schools.

“We want to check conflicts between the principals and the vice principals, for effective administration of our schools,” he said.

He also disclosed that the vice-principals would be “reshuffled” among schools to enhance efficiency and maximum productivity.

In his remarks,the Principal, Amasiri Secondary School, Afikpo, Mr Davidson Okoro, pledged his colleagues’ commitment to government’s efforts to enhance the quality of education in the state. efforts to enhance the quality of education in the state.
