A University don, Prof Yomi Dinakin has urged the Federal Character  Commission (FCC) to urgently address the issue of unequal distribution of socio-economic amenities and Infrastructural  facilities amongst the federal units as  enshrined  in the second part of its mandate.

Prof Dinakin made the call Monday in Port Harcourt while presenting a paper on overview of the Federal Character Commission Act  2004.

The university don remarked that the country would witness total transformation if the commission  was allowed to distribute equally the socio-economic amenities and infrastructural facilities amongst the  Federated units.

He said it was necessary and important that all segments of the nation is given a sense of belonging through the provision of equitable socio-economic amenities and infrastructural development.

He noted that it would be a dangerous development  to favour one segment of the nation against another in terms of  social amenities.

The university don also stressed the need for the commission to enunciate policies and ensure effective implementation of such policies to achieve  national goal for the unity of the nation.

According to Prof Dinakin, fair and equitable distribution of amenities to all the federated states would encourage the citizens of the federated states will remain loyal to the ideals of the nation.
