Commissioner Lauds Residents For Cleanliness
The State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Nyema Weli, has commended the People of the state for their commitments ensuring a clean and healthy environment. Dr. Weli made the commendation after inspecting the September monthly sanitation.
The commissioner, represented by an assistant director, environmental health and safety, Mr. Paul Nwachukwu, who led the team of directors, health officers, and other staff of the ministry, observed that despite the non restriction of movement, residents mobilised and cleaned their premises, drains and dumped their wastes at designated central collection points. He therefore called on the people of the state to sustain the consciousness and advised refuse contractors to live up to expectation by ensuring the early evacuation of the huge waste generated to avoid environmental health hazards.
The inspection team visited the old Port Harcourt township up to Borokiri, Diobu axis, Ikwerre Road, Aba Road and other parts of Port Harcourt.
