Colleagues, Friends Mourn Late YSFON President
Late National President, Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Jamiu Tunde Ojulari, was last week buried in Ilorin according to Islamic rites.
Ojulari, 63, died last Tuesday in Ilorin after a brief illness. It was gathered that he might have died from diabetis related aliment.
Sports administrators, friends, relations as well as professional colleagues from different parts of the country attended the interment.
Late Ojulari was the pioneer chairman of Kwara State branch of YSFON when it was formed in 1980.
Reacting to his death, Vice-President, YSFON, Mustapha Allah-Dey amidst tears, described his death as ‘sudden and painful’.
Allah-Dey, a former member, Kogi State House of Assembly recollected their last meeting, how Ojulari made plans to travel to keep up with pressing national engagements.
“I am expected to be in Lagos, Benin, and straight to Akwa Ibom State. I never knew it was the last time we would ever meet, “Allah-Dey quoted Ojulari as saying.
Former chairman of Kwara United FC, Ayo Bello said, “I cannot understand why God has decided to take him at this time. He is a big loss to us and the sports industry.
“We are going to miss his candour, honesty and straightforwardness. His contributions to youths sports development, was at the core of Nigerian sports’’.
Ademola Kiyesola, Kwara State Football Association Chairman, described the deceased as a mentor to everybody in sports development.
According to him, Ojulari’s death came as a rude shock. He brought YSFON to Kwara and he was a pillar of sports.
Meanwhile, a statement signed by Secretary, Kwara State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), AbdulWaheed Bibire said “his death is a big loss to the country in general and Kwara in particular’’,
It adds: “the deceased will long be remembered for development of sports at the grassroots. His dedication and commitment helped to move sporting activities to greater heights’’.
