Beach Soccer W/Cup: Nigeria Draws Brazil In Q-Final
The Sand Eagles of Nigeria yesterday, at the on-going 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Ravenna, Italy booked their place in the quarter final stage, courtesy of a 4-1 trouncing of Tahiti in their last group match.
Their qualification ensured that Africa has double representation at this stage of the World Cup after Senegal secured their qualification earlier.
The Sand Eagles, who bounced back from their opening day loss to beat Venezuela 5-3 in the second match at the weekend, began the victory song against Tahiti in the second period when Victor Tale opened scoring.
Tahiti drew level when a long shot beat Isa in Nigeria’s goal.
However, Tale put Nigeria ahead again before goals form Musa Najare and Ogbonna Okemiri made the score-line more comfortable with the third and fourth goals.
The Nigerian team must however, prepare hard and raise their game for the next round because their reward for reaching the quarter-final is a mouthwatering clash against Brazil.
