The Standard Chartered Bank of Nigeria (SCBN) has finally began the construction of its new 14 stories ultra-modern head office building, which is being referred to as one of Nigeria’s green and energy efficient building that epitomises space and up-to-date technology by it’s promoters.

This reflects the company’s target to create an efficient and sustainable facility to meet global health and safety standard construction, which finally resulted to a Multi-billion naira headquarters complex.

Design of the complex was being midwifed through a design competition sent to a few selected firms of architects, which was won later by the FMA Architects  Limited, after meeting SCBN major goals, which include maximising the site’s development potential and value, as well as replacing the existing SCBN building with a minimum 10,000 square metre new facility, and creating a design that satisfies the leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

Phase one of the project is a 14-stories tower block with a total office space of approximately 10,000  square metres, while the second phase is the six levels of structured car parking space at the rear.

The building is being handled by Messrs Cappa and D’Alberto which is the main contractor and is sited at Ahmadu Bello way in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Pilling Work which was done by Trevi Foundation, was done in September last year, while actual construction work started in the same period, with an estimate of N7.2 billion and to be completed in 2015, finally.
