Super Falcons Walk Olympics Tight Rope … After Slim Victory Over Cameroon
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are walking the tight rope as far as their qualification for the football event of the 2012 London Olympics is concerned.
At the weekend in Abuja, the Falcons put their chances in jeopardy after managing a slim 2-1 victory over their Cameroonian counterparts in the fist leg final round qualifier.
Nigerians were indeed looking forward to seeing the Falcons record a comfortable first leg victory to reduce the pressure on the return leg.
But after a laboured performance, the Falcons secured a late two goals lead before giving the Cameroonians a life line, courtesy, an own goal by Osinachi Ohale. Perpetua Nkwocha had converted a second half penalty, while Eberechi Oparanozie squeezed in a second goal, six minutes from time before the howler that gave Cameroon a precious away goal.
