Royal Hoopers Set For Zonal Basketball Tourney
Rivers State Basketball team, Royal Hoopers are set to participate in the zone three Africa-Basketball qualifiers, which will see them contest against teams from Cote d’Ivoire, Benin Republic, Liberia and Togo, later this year.
Chief Coach of the team, Ogoh Odadu disclosed this in a telephone interview with Tidesport, yesterday. He said that his players were determined to make the nation proud in the competition by grabbing one of the two tickets to the African Basketball clubs championship.
He stated that his players were technically sound and have trained very hard to be in position of winning any tournament. He added that the players were in high spirits for the competition.
The coach, explained that the two finalists in the zone three qualifiers will automatically qualify to compete in the continental tournament tagged, “African Club Championship” in Morocco in December this year.
“My players are fully prepared for the tournament. We are training hard to ensure that we qualify for the zonal competition and subsequently emerge winner in the continental championship,” Odadu said.
It will be recalled that Royal Hoopers are the champions of Nigeria NBBF/DStv Basketball Premier League.
