Rev George Deserves National Honour – Amachree

The Rivers State House of Assembly has said that late Rev. Clifford Talbot Tokin George, former president emeritus of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, deserves a National Honour.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree, who said this during the funeral ceremony last weekend in Buguma, headquarters of Asari-Toru Local Government said that the Dr C.T.T. George, while alive, championed the cause of peace and development both at the local and national levels.

The Speaker also said the deceased who was an educationist and a clergyman had led countless souls to a victorious Christian life.

Hon Amachree who said that the late George had affected his personal life, urged the children to follow the good step of their late father.

Also speaking, Deputy Speaker Federal House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha said that the House shared with the family this moment of grief.

The Deputy Speaker who represented the speaker, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal said that the activities of the late clergyman has traversed beyond the shores of the state and expressed optimism that the qualities of the deceased would be greatly expressed in the lower legislative chamber by one of his children, Hon. Dr Dawari George who is member of the House.

The ceremony was attended by people from all walks of life.
