Orji Inaugurates Body Of Advisers

Gov Theodore Orji of Abia has inaugurated a 35-member body of Special Advisers and swore in five more commissioners into his cabinet to bring the number to 23.

The inauguration held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia.

The governor had a forth-night ago, sworn in 18 commissioners and promised to complete the process as soon as the last batch was cleared by the state House of Assembly.

The new commissioners are Chief Paul Mba, Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Emeka Nwogu Ministry of Urban Renewal, and Mrs Joy Alozie, Ministry of Women Affairs.

Others are  Chief Henry Balogun, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Mrs Eunice Oke, Ministry of Special Duties.

Among the advisers are  Chief Anthony Agbazuere, the immediate past Commissioner for Information, and Mrs Nwada Igwe, immediate past Commissioner for Women Affairs.

However, the advisers are  yet to be assigned portfolios.

Orji urged the appointees to assist him and the commissioners “to fill our knowledge gap.

“You will work closely with me and your assigned commissioners to bring some added initiatives in the way we do things.”

The event witnessed a significant improvement in the number of women in the cabinet.

While three female commissioners have so far been appointed as against one during the last dispensation, four women have been appointed special advisers.

Mba,who responded on behalf of the appointees,  pledged allegiance to the governor and promised that they would not disappoint him.
