No Automatic Jersey For Lazy Players — NVBF Scribe
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has said that it will not give jerseys to players who fail to perform well during the training ahead of the upcoming All Africa Games (AAG).
The games are scheduled to hold between September 3 and 18 in Maputo, Mozambique.
Commenting on preparation for the AAG, Secretary Patrick Abobi told newsmen in Abuja that the federation would not compromise its integrity by giving jerseys to players who fell short of the required performance.
“As you can see, we have resumed camping for preparation for the 10th All Africa Games. The players are in top spirit, they are working very hard to pick their jerseys. “I and the technical director had a briefing with them and we told them they are not going to have automatic shirts; so they are all fighting for their shirts, which is a good thing.”
Abobi said the federation had invited 60 players to camp for training and they would participate in different categories. According to him, only 24 of them will be selected.
The secretary noted that the federation discovered some talented players at the just concluded National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt.
