Nigerians ’ll Enjoy Uninterrupted Light By 2015 –Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday redoubled his assurance of uninterrupted power supply in Nigeria before the end of its tenure in 2015.
Jonathan said this at an audience with members of the Board of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPH), led by Vice President Namadi Sambo, at the State House, Abuja.
He said that the Federal Government was constantly mindful of the critical importance of steady power supply for national development, and would do everything possible to ensure that all its plans and projects to guarantee stable power supply were implemented successfully.
“We all know the importance of power. We look forward to a time when Nigerians can enjoy uninterrupted power supply from the beginning to the end of a year and we are working hard to ensure that that objective is attained within the life-span of this administration,’’ he said.
The President urged members of the board and management of the NDPHC to ensure that the company contributed effectively to meeting the country’s power supply needs.
Our correspondent reports NDPHC was established to oversee the implementation of National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP), and it is funded by the three tiers of government.
In his remarks,Vice President Sambo who chairs the board of the company, assured the President that it would deliver on schedule, all the medium-sized gas-fired NIPP power-generating stations, as well as associated transmission projects.
He thanked the President for receiving them and gave the assurance that the company would work relentlessly to ensure that the promise of steady power supply was fulfilled.
