Nigeria’s Best To Represent Africa At Poland Scrabble
The Secretary, Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF), James Eakyns, has said that only the country’s best 10 players would represent Africa at the World Scrabble Championships in Poland in October.
Eakyns told newsmen in Lagos that Nigeria became Africa’s sole representative to the competition after it won the 2010 Africa Scrabble Championships in Ghana.
He said that to ensure that the best were chosen, the federation planned to conduct trials to select players to be camped for the competition in the next two weeks.
“Nigeria became Africa’s sole representative having won the 2010 Africa Scrabble Championships in Ghana. This position has made it imperative that we have to do our utmost best to do the continent proud.
“The federation will conduct trials for players before selecting those for intensive camping for the competition holding in Poland from October 11 to October 16.
“We are going to make the trials open so that every professional interested in participating in the World Scrabble Championship can have the opportunity to show his or her skill.
“We are doing this to make Africa proud having secured all its 10 slots,’’ he said.
