NGO Donates Basketball Shoes To Less Privileged
A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Samantan Feet Foundation has donated 500 foot-wears (Snickers) to the less privileged youths in Nigeria.
The donation was made by the Head Coach of Men’s Basketball, in Erie Community College, New York, U.S.A, Alex Nwora under the platform of the organisation, at the Full Gospel Church Mission, located at Ndoki Street, Port Harcourt recently.
According to him, he was motivated towards the gesture in order to improve the lives of the less privileged youths and a way of giving back to Nigerians, especially, after hearing the story of Manni Ahami, the president of the NGO on how a pair of canvas given to him changed his life.
I am here to send message of hope, through Samaritan Feet which has donated 500 snickers to the less privilege here in Nigeria.
I made money three years ago and when I heard the story of Ohami, how just a pair of shoe given to him changed his life, I was touched to do the same Nwora said.
Head coach, noted that Nigeria has talents and potentials in basketball, saying that the major problem remains how to groom and harness them.
“I have come here three times and luckily I discovered talents by name Godgift Achuwa of Royal Hoopers team who is now playing basketball for Erie Community College and he is doing very well. I am sure that more will come over to America, because I want to develop basketball in Nigeria” he stated.
Nwora, used the forum to advise athletes, especially the players of Rivers State Basketball team, Royal Hoopers to train and work hard to enable them achieve their dreams.
