NCF Invites 18 Cricketers For Malaysian Tourney

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has invited 18 players to camp ahead of the ICC World Cricket League Division Six scheduled for September 17 to 24 in Malaysia.

NCF’s Technical Committee Chairman, Okon Ukpong told newsmen this week in Lagos that only 14 players would make it to the competition scheduled for Kuala Lumpur.  Ukpong said that the open camp began on August 26 at the Tafawa Balewa Square Cricket Oval, Lagos.

He said that the training has been holding in the morning and evening from 7 a.m. to noon and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. respectively.

The technical committee chief said that the morning training session began with kilometres of road walk to build the players’ stamina. He said that the trip would be sponsored by the NCF in collaboration with the International Cricket Council, adding that the team would be accompanied on the trip by two NCF officials.

The invited players include Adekunle Adegbola, Ademola Onikoyi, Saheed Akolade, Olalekan Awolowo, Olajide Bejide, Endurance Ofem, Joshua Ogunlola, Chibuike Iteogu and Segun Olayinka.

Others are Oluseye Olympio, Sean Phillips, Ramit Gill, Adeleke Oyede, Oluwaseun Odeku, Akabogu Okwudili, Yashpal Sharma, Varun Behani and James Chukwu.
