Islamic Leader Urges Muslims To Be Tolerant
AlhajiDaudaAjagu, Vice-President, Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has urged Muslims to imbibe love, tolerance and exhibit peace, which Islam stands for.
Ajagu told newsmen on Tuesday in Onitsha in Anambra that those that perpetrate violence in the name of religion were not abiding to the teachings of the Holy Qu’ran.
“Our icon and mentor, Holy Prophet Muhammed, lived a selfless, peaceful and tolerant life.
“And every Muslim must follow the Prophet’s impeccable virtues that build Islam as a religion of brotherhood and love,’’ he said.
The cleric said that the country could only move forward if there was peace and unity among the members of various religious and ethnic groups.
“The continued breach of security and brazen destruction of lives and property in the name of religion is not in the best interest of our great country,’’ he said.
Ajagu, who described the Ramadanas a period of self denial to get close to Allah, urged the Muslims to take advantage of the period to earnestly pray for Allah’s intervention.
According to him, we need continuous prayers for peace and security as well as socio-economic progress of the country, which would be beneficial to everybody.
The cleric advised Muslims to desist from selfish hike in prices of foodstuffs and other commodities during the Ramadan.
