Injury Rules Odemwingie Out Of Madagascar Match
Osaze Odemwingie will play no part in Nigeria’s two games against Madagascar and Argentina this month.
The West Brom forward has withdrawn from the squad with a recurrence of the ankle injury he suffered in pre-season.
Odemwingie, who is expected to miss the Baggies’ home game against Stole on Sunday, has already informed Nigeria officials and been excused from the international fixtures this month.
“It’s been almost four weeks since I got injured, but the ankle didn’t get better,” Odemwingie told KickOffNigeria.com. “I have been too active and impatient to get back on the field, I think.” Odemwingie missed Albion’s opening game of the season against Manchester United, but came on for the last 20 minutes at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, where he said he played through the pain barrier.
“Forced it last week and only aggravated it. I’m out for a while but it won’t be up to four weeks.”
