Ex-PDP Scribe Gives Conditions For Sustainable Dev
A former secretary of the Rivers State Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Oris Onyiri says peace is the only panacea for sustainable and corporate governance in the polity.
Chief Oris gave this indication in his acceptance speech shortly after he was elected as the president-General of Egi nation in Ogbla/Egbema/Ndoni LGA in Rivers State.
He also noted at the first ever delegate congress of the Egi nation held at Obite observed that, there is a wind of positive change and new trend sweeping through the democratic process in the state insisting that only those who remain focus, determined and embrace peace in conflict resolution would benefit from governor Amaechi led administration in the state.
The president said though, Egi, as one of the highest contributor to the nation economy are noted for peaceful disposition, but continued that “there is need for vigilance and urged the state government to fish out those who would like to rock the boat.”
He said the economic roadmap to development of all Egi towns and villages are on course, contending that, when the envisaged projects come on board, people will smile as there be a lot employments, and economic activites that would be stirred up in the area.
Towards this end, people he said should avoid destructive tendencies, trivial sentiments and actions that could bring disunity.
He, however, commended the delegates, community leaders, chief for their show of maturity, understanding and love during the processes of the election that brought him into office.
Chief Oris who also commended Chief G.U. Ake, who he said as a political leader of the clan had ensured that there is absolute peace in Egi clan, unlike other part of the state.
While appreciating the partnership of programme of Total in its quest to develop the clan, President Oris pledges that his executive will also support government programmes and policies that would benefit the people.
Those to serve with chief Oris to stir the affairs of Egi Peoples Assembly were Chief Isaac Agilebu, Vice President, Messrs Vincent Umesi, Secretary-General. He is to be assisted by Chinyere Johnson, with Onyemachi Nwokoji as secretary.
Others are Festus Dibia, Financial Secretary, Maurice Umah, Legal adviser, Ephraim Eke, Publicity Secretary, Ugochukwu Orikoha, Director Youth Affairs, Mrs Augustina Ozuruoke, Director of Women Affairs while pastor Kemmer Simon and Ndubuisi Obulor, are to serve as provost one and two respectively.
