Eaglets To Participate In PFA Competition

The national U-17 football team, Golden Eaglets, are to participate in this year’s Pepsi Football Academy International Football Tournament holding in Abeokuta from August 19 to August 28.

Chief Kasimawo Laloko, the Director of the Academy, who disclosed this at a news conference on Thursday in Abeokuta, said that nine teams would participate in the 9th edition of the tournament.

The nine teams are Dimension de Formation from Republic of Benin, Liberty Professionals from Ghana, Sia One Football Academy, Abuja, and River Lane Football Academy of Enugu.

Others are Botswana U-17 national team, Babatunde Raji Fasola Team from Lagos, Pepsi Football Academy I, Pepsi Football Academy II and the Golden Eaglets.

Laloko called on football academies to come together and begin a monthly competition which, according to him, will help the country to succeed in soccer development.

The former Nigerian Football Association technical director assured participants that arrangements for security, accommodation and transportation had been concluded for the tournament.

Teams for the competition, which takes place at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, started arriving in Abeokuta on Friday.
