Delta Gov Polls: DPP To Appeal Verdict
Chief Tony Ezeagwu, Chairman of DPP in Delta, says the party will appeal against the judgement of the Governorship Election Tribunal which dismissed its petition against the re-run election of Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
“We still have a window to pursue the case and that is the Court of Appeal. We will go there and see if the verdict will be the same as the one given by the tribunal on Monday.’’
Our correspondent reports, that DPP and Great Ogboru, its governorship candidate in the January 6 re-run, would appeal against the verdict.
“We already have precedents in Ekiti and Ondo States and Delta cannot be different.
He stressed that rather than push the burden of proof on the petitioners, the Tribunal ought to rely on INEC.
Ezeagwu accused the tribunal of miscarriage of justice.
Ogboru had after the re-run which was won by Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan of PDP, filed a petition, claiming that he was the rightful winner.
He had claimed that election did not hold in parts of the state, especially in eight Local Government Areas and that in the areas where it was held, he scored more votes than Uduaghan
