Council Chairman’s Wife Empowers Lepers
Wife of Kwali Area Council Chairman, Mrs Saratu Shazin, has donated clothing materials and food items worth thousands of Naira to lepers in Alheri Special Village in Kwali Area Council, FCT.
Presenting the materials to the lepers, Shazin said the donation was to give the lepers a sense of belonging during the Sallah celebration.
She said the donation was also part of the council’s commitment to ensure that the less-privileged in the society were catered for.
Shazin, therefore, called on the villagers to ensure that the materials were distributed without bias or sentiments.
She also pledged the commitment of the present council to ensure that the challenges facing the villagers were addressed.
Alhaji Ali Isa, Alheri Village Head, who commended Shazin on behalf of the villagers, said the donation was timely especially with the approach of Sallah celebration.
He, therefore, called on other well meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the good gesture of the wife of the council chairman.
The village head said other challenges facing the village were persistent blackout, following a breakdown of the transformer in the village, lack of power as well as lack of drugs in the dispensary.
“We have no drugs in our dispensary and we are always not accepted each time we go to the General Hospital. We appeal to government, individuals and corporate organisations to provide drugs in our dispensary,” he said.
Our correspondent reports that the items distributed were, bags of rice, gallons of groundnut oil, wrappers, cartons of maggi cube, cartons of macaroni and bags of beans.
