C’River To Issue ID Cards To Farmers
The Commissioner of Agriculture in Cross River, Dr Sandy Onor, has approved the registration and issuance of identity cards to farmers in the state.
Onor, who gave the approval during the ministry’s weekly management meeting in Calabar on Wednesday, said the exercise would enable the ministry to compile a comprehensive data of farmers in the state.
“The ID card will ensure that there is an authentic statistical data for genuine farmers in the state,’’ he added.
The commissioner said the exercise would also ensure that the farmers received adequate government incentives for greater productivity.
In his report, the Director of Agricultural Extension Services, Mr Francis Neku, said the department had “successfully produced the farmers’ registration forms”.
According to him, a total of 1,122 farmers had been registered and 1,452 identity cards produced.
