Beach Eagles Begin Camping, Today

Twenty-two players, including 11 from eight Nigerian Premier League clubs, have been invited to the national beach soccer team camp by the Nigeria Football Association (NFA). According to the list signed by the team’s head coach, Audu Adamu and made available to newsmen, the players are to camp in Badagry, Lagos State. The camping which begins from today to August 14 is for the 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup scheduled for Ravenna, Italy.

The team are billed to participate in the World Cup from September 1 to 11 as one of Africa’s two representatives, the other being Senegal.

The list showed that Emeka Atuloma and Emmanuel Nwachi were invited from Dolphin FC of Port Harcourt, while Ogbonnaya Okemiri and Isiaka Olawale were invited from Kwara United of Ilorin. Musa Najere and James Okwuosa are coming from Enugu-based Rangers International, while Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Abdullahi Isah are also invited from Sharks FC of Port Harcourt and Plateau United of Jos respectively.

Others are Onyekachi Nwosu of Warri Wolves, Okechukwu Akabogu of Ocean Boys and Bartholomew Ibenegbu of Heartland FC.

Three players, Azeez Abu of Bridge FC of Lagos, Emmanuel Kyande of Adamawa United of Yola and Shehu Maijama’a of Wikki Tourists, Bauchi.

Adams Jibrin of Amateur League side Apa United FC of Otukpo, Jonathan Adofu of Dragon FC of Dekina and Victor Tale of FC Lokoja have also been called up.

Other amateur league players invited are Owibesebe FC of Lagos have three of their players, Olalekan Oladepo, Ramon Arubiewe and Babatunde Badmus called up. The duo of Atu Irumekhai and Joseph Enaholo who are with no established clubs are listed as unattached players to complete the 22-man list.
