Anambra Crisis: PDP Names Reconciliation Committee
The South East Zonal Working Committee of the PDP has set up an 18-man strategy committee to look into the last chairmanship and councillorship primaries in Anambra.
The committee is headed by a member of the Board of Trustees, Sen. Onyeabor Obi, while former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Josephine Anenih, is the Secretary.
The committee includes former Speaker of Anambra House of Assembly, Mr Anayo Nnebe; former state Chairman of the party, Chief Frank Oramulu, Chief Chinyere Ogugua, Messrs Vin Atuigwe, Emma Mbamalu and three other women.
Inaugurating the committee last Monday in Enugu, the Zonal Vice Chairman of the party, Chief Olisa Metu, urged them to listen to petitions, if any, and make recommendations.
Metu also urged them to recommend the procedure for the emergence of chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the next local government elections in the state.
The committee will also develop a framework for reconciling the various interest groups in Anambra PDP.
The Vice Chairman, however, pledged that the zonal committee would not interfere with the activities of the strategy committee.
Metu appealed to the committee members to shun rumours and not to victimise any individual, rather, they should make peace.
He also inaugurated a 30-member Conflict Resolution Committee, headed by one of the founding members of the party in the state, Chief Patrick Agu.
The committee is expected to find the remote cause and lasting solution to persistent crisis in the state PDP as well as reconcile all aggrieved parties with a view to rebuilding a strong PDP in the state.
