The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Micah Jiba, has promised the people of Karshi Ward that the council would construct roads in the area from October.

Speaking at a “meet-the-people’’ tour  last Wednesday, the chairman also promised to provide the area with a health centre, a secondary school, improve the conditions of primary schools and to offer scholarships.

Jiba said the visit was part of the council’s efforts to bring governance closer to the people. He said the council was aware of the sufferings of the people and was making efforts to meet their needs.

“We all know that an access road to Karshi is a major challenge facing the people and needs urgent attention. I have decided to commence the construction of the road in October when the rains subside”.

“We cannot do any good work at this time because of the rain and no contractor would like to accept any job at this time. The best time to start the work is during the dry season,’’ he added.

Earlier, Chief Bako Madaki of Gidan-Kwano, who spoke through an interpreter, asked for an access road to the area, adding that this would improve its commercial activities.

He also called for the provision of boreholes and a hospital to better the lives of the people of Karshi.
