The Resident Engineer in the Rivers State Ministry of Works, Engr. Basoene G.Benibo, has assured that the Agip flyover project will be completed as soon as the approved rescoping work which attracted a variation process is over.

Engr. Benibo gave the assurance early this week while speaking with The Tide correspondent in Port Harcourt.

He said going by the technical assessment of the on-going protect, construction work will be completed by the end of August this year, adding that whatever witches or stumbling block that would have caused delay on the construction work has been settled.

The Resident Engineer explained that what is left on the project work is the retaining walls of the flyover on which work has already commenced.

Engr. Benibo said that the contractors are on accelerated payment delivery programme, which has made the work to move progressively without any bottleneck.

According to him, the service lane areas and other earth work may probably be suspended until after the rains except there is need to use concrete materials which will be too expensive.

Engr. Benibo thanked Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, who directed that the flyover project should be expanded to a four lane road to ease traffic in the area.

He further commended RIVICO Construction Company, the contractor handling the Agip Flyover project for making available concrete materials for a solid construction work.

He noted that any concrete work embarked on normally requires a minimum period of 28 days to solidify.

“If you embark on any concrete work you must give it a minimum period of 28 days to solidify before using it for the service it requires”, he added.
