First Vice President of the Vollyball Federation of Nigeria (VFN), Dr Tunde Morale in has commended the Rivers State Government over the standard of facilities provided for the on-going 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt.

Morale in made commendation yesterday during the preliminary stage of the volleyball, competition at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium.

He said that, the facilities are very good and of good standard adding that, the hosting is going on very well, so far.

He however, observed that the distance between games venues and accommodation site, absence of cover and refreshment for officials were some of the challenges at the games.

I would have preferred an indoor pitch to the season to enable the officials and athletes to feel better in their various sports.

Meanwhile, some young potentials within the age bracket of 18 to 20 years have been discovered, during the preliminary saying that, the numbers are yet to be known.

“It is a good thing that a committee is a ground picking new talents at this festival for grooming ahead of future national engagements,” said Morakin.

He continued that lots of young players are participating in the festival because most of the old athletes are no longer eligible to be part of the festival, especially, Delta, Adamawa and Niger State, which put together about 12 new players for the competition.
