UPTH CMD Vows To Reduce Oversea’s Treatment
The Chief Medical Director of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Professor Aaron Ojule, has expressed determination to improve the health care delivery services in West Africa to minimize referral cases to other parts of the world.
Prof. Ojule stated this, while addressing a delegation of West African Student Union Parliament, who were in his office to induct him into the Kwame Nkrumah Hall of Fame and to present him with an award for his exemplary leadership roles and qualities in the discharge of his duties.
“African has lots of opportunities and challenges to build a career in the continent.
“One of such challenges and opportunities is to see a future where health institutions will improve tremendously and there will be minimal or no referral cases to other parts of the world”, he added.
The chief medical director expressed surprise at the honour, adding it has gone a long way to encourage him and his team to do more so as to impact more on life of workers and patients.
He thanked the students for finding him worthy and commended them for finding time to visit the hospital amidst their tight academic schedule.
Earlier the speaker of West African Student Union Parliament, Rt Hon Chikong N. Y. Chikong, disclosed that Prof Ojule was selected for the award due to his commitments towards the upliftment of the hospital, adding that the days when people were recognised after they had died were gone.
Chikong said Prof Ojule’s selection was based on independent findings and investigations carried out by WASUP and urged him to continue to improve on his achievements in other to keep the pace flying in medical and administrative exploits.
