Team Rivers Rides High On Medal Table: 17th NSF
The expectations to host and win is gradually becoming a reality, as Team Rivers, hosts of the on-going 17th National Sports Festival has increased its advantage on the medal table barely five days to the end of the sports fiesta, with 45 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronze medals. Their closest rivals, Delta State have 24 gold, 26 silver and 28 bronze. Followed by Edo and Bayelsa States.
As at press time, a total of 146 gold, 142 silver and 227 bronze medals has been won totaling 515 medals.
Meanwhile, Gombe, Kebbi, Sokoto, Taraba and Zanfara States are yet to write their names on the medal table.
It will be recalled that Rivers State had earlier vowed that they will not only host but win the Garden City Games 2011.
