Team Rivers has delivered 3 gold medals in Abula in all categories of the male, female and the mixed double game played at the Alfred Diette Spiff Sports Complex in Port Harcourt for the Garden City Games 2011.

The male finals played yesterday between Rivers and Ondo attracted many spectators and supporters who thrilled the players to show some class of skills and goals.

The highly contested match which the Federation of Traditional Sports is making effort to ensure its adoption in the West African sub-region, eventually saw Rivers winning at 16-8 point at the end of section 2.

Coach of Team Rivers Paul Asaah gave all the glory to God for the team’s success and promised to also deliver all the gold of Abula next year in Lagos during the 18th National Sports Festival.

“I am very happy and not surprised, we have trained hard as a team and all we did and we did as a team. I am promising that next year we will bring home the gold from Lagos. I promised to deliver the gold during KADA games, I did and this festival was not an exception. When you are determined and train hard as an athlete nothing will be impossible for you,” Coach Asaah said.

It would be recalled that Team Rivers won the gold during KADA 09, Imo 98 and Bauchi 91.

In the male play, Ondo received the silver and Bayelsa Bronze. In the female, Delta had the silver while Ogun got the bronze.

In the mixed double category, Edo won the silver and Lagos the bronze.
