Six States Yet To Record Medal

Six States are yet to register their presence in the medals table in the on-going 17th National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt.

Zamfara State leads the pack from the bottom, followed by Taraba, Sokoto, Kebbi, Gombe and Borno states, as at yesterday.

The medal table released by the technical committee headed by Brig.-General Emmanuel Okaro, indicates that host Rivers State continue to lead the pack with 45 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronz. The defending champions, Delta State is second with 24 gold, 26 silver and 28 bronze while Edo is holding forth in the third place with 11 gold, 11 silver and 16 bronze.

Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Ondo and Ogun, are trailing with 9 gold, 4 silver and 13 bronze; 9 gold and 12 bronze, 8 gold, 11 silver and 13 bronze, and 7 gold, 9 silver and 17 bronze respectively.

Meanwhile, most states in the competitions are not happy with the slow pace of releasing the medal table as they believe the performance of their states are not reflected on time.
