RSG Tasked On Illegal Structures
The Rivers State government has been urged to check the activities of some retired staff of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) who have resorted to building illegal structures at the Railway quarters along Odual road in Port Harcourt metropolis.
Making the call in Port Harcourt last Tuesday, a businessman Mr. Bright Ubani said the activities of some of the retirees have thwarted government’s effort at beautifying the area.
Mr. Ubani decried the waton destruction of flowers and other infrastructure put in place by the government which are now being demolished by the activities of the retired staff.
According to him some of the shanties built in the area now allegedly accommodate hoodlums who engage in criminal activities including snatching of hand bags and mobile phones.
He urged the government to step up security in the area to curb the activities of the criminals as well as curtail the indiscriminate erection of unauthorised structures within the area.
