The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Hon. George Feyii has said that the recent mass redeployment of treasury staff in the state was to check unwholesome practices and help process of accountability and transparency by the Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s administration.

Hon Feyii, who stated this in a telephone interview with The Tide yesterday in Port Harcourt, described the redeployment as a routine and healthy exercise in the interest of the state.

The state government’s chief scribe stated that if a staff stays in a place for too long there would be the tendency of getting involved in some unwholesome practices saying “if you realise that any position you occupy can be taken over by someone else tomorrow, then there will be the need for caution.”

He said that the exercise would go a long way to build the proficiency of the staff and also boost human capacity development through learning of new things in their new areas.

According to him, the office of the state accountant-General redeployed 59 staff of the state treasury based on the directive of the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi in order to forestall any excesses that may arise from being in one office indefinitely.

Meanwhile, a statement signed by Ngozi I. Abu on behalf of the state Accountant-General said that the posting took immediate effect while the letters to that effect were to be collected at the state treasury headquarters.
