Petroleum Subsidy: Party Chief Slams Govs
The National Chairman of Progressive Action Congress (PAC) has called on State governors to stop clamouring for the removal of subsidy on oil before they can pay workers the new minimum wage.
Chief Charles Nwodo, the Chairman of PAC, made the call in an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, saying the States had the resources to pay the wage and therefore had no reasons not to pay, considering that the States generated revenues that could enable them to pay without complaints.
“A genuine leader must learn how to cut costs so that the State will remain functional”, he stated.
Nwodo said political office holders benefitted from more than one third of the nation’s income and as such should be sincere with the masses.
“This (lack of sincerity) could be responsible for the level of insecurity in some parts of the country”.
