Navy Set For Water Sports
The Nigerian Navy have said that it would thrill spectators with water sports at its ongoing Navy Games in Kaduna.
Lt.-Cdr. Jerry Omadara, a member of the Media Committee for the Games, told newsmen in Kaduna that water games were very crucial aspects of the competition.
Omodara said the events, including Sailing; Rowing and Kayak would be staged in Kaduna for the first time.
He urged the public to turn out enmasse to watch the competition which would hold on Wednesday at the Wuyep Lakeside Club at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna.
Omodara explained that Kayak was an Olympic sport and urged Kaduna fans to train and participate in it.
He disclosed that Lagos had several clubs that were registered for Kayak in the Games which would be competed for at the Air Force Base.
“This is a water game and is rated highly within naval circles because every officer is expected to have knowledge of Hydrography which is necessary for their operations,’’ Omodara said.
