The former Commissioner for Sports in Edo State, Hon. Brown Ebewelle has criticised  the National Sports Commission for not observing the rules on the movement of athletes in the on-going National Sports Festival.

Hon. Ebewelle who said this in an interview with Tidesports in Port Harcourt said that most athletes who moved from one state to the other in the course of the festival have no requisite qualification as far as the festival is concerned.

He also said that some police officers and other uniform men including members of the National Youth Service Corps also violated the rules of the festival by not participating for states that they served.

According to him, this situation is capable of causing chaos in the game.

“It has been so in the past, but it has never been this alarming and if Nigerians are not careful especially in all these combat sports areas, it certainly will end up in chaos” he said.

Hon. Ebewelle said that the National Sports Commission should step in to correct the anomalies to avoid a repeat of it in the next sports festival.

He also said that he is not going to protest officially since he is not in Port Harcourt to represent any state, but noted that it behoves on the participating states to make their protest to the National Sports Commission on the issue.

He used the occasion to commend the organisers of the festival for the peace being witnessed in all venues.
