Lagos FA Stipulates Qualification For Election

Lagos State Football Association (FA) over the weekend released the guideline for the Divisional Football Association (DFA) elections on July 18.

Tade Azees, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, told newsmen in Lagos that the guideline was clear on the educational qualification and experience of those seeking to hold offices in DFA.

Azees said that only candidates with unbroken three years involvement in football administration in the state would be eligible contest for the post of chairman.

“Any candidate for the position of chairman of the DFA must have, at least, an unbroken record of three years in the management and administration of football in the state before the date of the election.

“There must also be verifiable proof of the candidate’s minimum education qualification of school certificate or its equivalent,” said Azees, who is also that FA Vice-Chairman.

He said that the candidate must also present three years tax clearance certificate.

“It is also part of the requirement for qualification to stand for election that no one standing for electin must be involved in taking any dispute in football to a civil court,” Azee said.

He said that forms would be available at the FA secretariat at the cost of N15,000.

“The deadline for submission of forms is July 8, while the screening of candidates takes place July 15 and the election proper is  on July 18,” Azees said.

Elections will be conducted into the boards of five divisional football associations, namely, Lagos, Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu and Epe.
