Imo Tasks Appointees On Wealth Creationa
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo has said in Owerri that most of his political appointees would generate resources to fund their respective offices and create wealth for the state.
Okorocha, who stated this in his maiden meeting with the appointees, Monday said the measure was in line with the agenda of his Imo Rescue Mission aimed at efficient resource management.
The governor said those criticising him for “appointing political aides for no-relevant issues”, misunderstood his leadership style, adding that he carefully selected those who would perform.
It will b e recalled that sharp criticism had trailed last week’s swearing-in of 46 political aides by the governor.
“My team players will work to generate their pay; I have defined their roles and job schedule and I am optimistic that they will deliver.”
“The rescue mission is like a taskforce that doesn’t require much protocol; what it means is that they will not depend on the state resources but will rather explore other opportunities that will add value to our government.”
“Whoever fails to perform within expectation for the first three months will be dropped,” the governor said.
Okorocha reminded the people that his administration was in a hurry to develop the state and would do away with unnecessary bureaucratic bottle-necks that delayed policy implementation in the past.
He enjoined Imo people to expect a radical change in infrastructure development, health care delivery, industrialisation, security as well as primary and secondary education.
He restated that his administration had zero tolerance for corruption and warned the appointees to shun corruption in their own interest.
