Hockey Federation Applauds Hockey Turf

The Nigeria Hockey Federation, has applauded the new hockey pitch, built by the Rivers State government at the Adokiye Amiesimeka’s Sports Complex – venue of the on-going 17th National Sports Festival.

The Nigeria Hockey Federation also commended the Rivers State government for hosting what it viewed as World Class tournament, and ‘the best festival ever since the history of the National Sports Festival.’

The Federation’s Director of Organisation, Mr. Tunde Bukola who made the commendation in an interview with The Tide said he was really not expecting anything less than what they had at the 16th edition of the festival in Kaduna.

“Well for hockey, I’m happy the Rivers State government has built a new turf. Rivers State government did us a favour by building the right turf for us in their new complex,” he said.

Mr Bukola added that Rivers State had all it takes to host the best festival ever, including personnel, adding assuredly that “this is probably going to be the best National Sports Festival ever.” If you go to the new site and venue of the games, you can understand what I am trying to say,” adding that, “I mean we’re looking at world standard and from the decision of the LOC …some of their programmes ..you can understand that it is one world class tournament.”
