Columbus Crew midfielder Emmanuel Ekpo will be named in the Nigeria squad for next month’s international friendly against Ghana, sources have told Tidessports source.

Ekpo, 23, last represented Nigeria when he played in the 2008 Olympic team under current Nigeria coach Samson Siasia.

The midfielder has started 14 times, and tallied a total of 17 appearances for the Crew this season, notching a goal and one assist.

Where it is good news for one Olympian, it is bad news for another, as Dele Adeleye has been left out of the squad.

The defender has failed to break into the Super Eagles starting XI despite obvious problems in the centre back position.

Heartland’s Gege Soriola is expected to take his place.

Soriola will be one of three local players in the squad with Warri Wolves goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim joining Chibuzor Okonkwo.
