Ebonyi Gov Retires Permanent Secretaries

Gov. Martin Elechi of Ebonyi on Thursday directed permanent secretaries, who have put in seven years and above in the state civil service to proceed on compulsory retirement.

The directive is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Dr Onyekachi Eni in Abakaliki.

It stated that’ ‘as part of measures to inject fresh momentum into the administrative machinery of the state, Gov. Martin Elechi has approved the immediate retirement of some permanent secretaries.

All the affected permanent secretaries are hereby directed to make all necessary handover and proceed 011 retirement immediately.”

It will be recalled that Elechi recently dissolved the State Executive Council. and has not reconstituted it.

The retired permanent secretanes are expected to hand-over to the most semor director in their ministries, and they would be entitled to a monthly pension of about N300,000.

Meanwhile. Eleclli has approved the demolition of unapproved property and structures in Abakaliki metropolis.

A statement also signed by the chief press secretary stated that the move was to ensure the orderl y development of the state capital.
