The Mgbuodigi Community in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, has decried the deplorable state of roads and absence of good drinking water in the community.

The chairman of the community, Engr. David Wordu who made this known last weekend, during his acceptance speech, said that the deplorable state of roads has brought economic hardship to people as they find it difficult to embark on any meaningful economic venture.

He disclosed that the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, sometime ago promised to construct the road, adding that the community was still hoping for the state government’s assistance.

According to him, the heavy rain fall which started early this year has worsen the situation as commercial motorcycle operators are rending their services at the expense of the people.

He lamented over the continued absence of good source of drinking water in the area which he said was dangerous due to water borne diseases.

He appealed to the state government to provide drinking water in the area.

Wordu described as a shame a situation where people still drink from locally dug wells, saying that it is not in consonant with the modern means of sourcing for water any where in the world.

Chief Godwill Amesi Wordu and the community’s scribe, Barr. Geoffrey Uchechi Wohale, called on the state government to assist the community in order to give them a sense of belonging in the state.
