Coca Cola Nigeria Plc has said that it has shifted focus from sponsorship of national football competitions to the development of the game at the grass roots.

Femi Adelusi, the Coordinator, Copa Coca Cola, told newsmen in Kaduna that the decision was to identify raw talents and groom them.

Adelusi said that Coca Cola was inspired by the model used by some Latin American countries to develop their football.

According to him, the countries after investment in development of grass roots football are today realising the benefits.

He said that the Copa Coca Cola grassroots soccer had been on for three years and was growing with each passing year.

Adelusi said that the company had invested in sports development in Nigeria for over 60 years, adding that the present vision was to groom youths to take over the national team.

He said that the finals of the Copa Cola Cola tournament would be played in London with the winners provided the opportunity to watch popular English league teams live.
