… As Coach Slams Ineffective Players

Super Falcons coach Uche Eucharia has taken a pop at her attacking players, labelling them ‘ineffective’ while showering praise on her defenders.

“They were ineffective and not bold enough to take their chances.

“My advice to them is to return and perfect their skills for the future,” Uche, a former Falcons striker herself, said.

Nigeria have been eliminated, again, from the FIFA Women’s World Cup after losing to France and Germany.

But where the forwards have hardly looked threatening, the defence has been more organised than in previous years, drawing praise from the coach.

“This has got nothing to do with the fact that we conceded two goals in the championship. When you see that something deserves commendation, you should not ignore it. My defenders made me happy and l must let them know,” said the coach.

Nigeria face Canada in a dead rubber on Tuesday, while France and Germany play for top spot.
