Abia State wrestler, Police Sargent Abel Gesikeme who won the seven weight free sytel wrestling bout against his Yobe State counterpart, David Ogo has dedicated his victory to God.

Sergent Gesikeme who serves in Umuahia and represents Zone 9 wrestling category in Umuahia said he was optimistic from the start of the contest that he will win the bout.

The six gold medal winner from 2001 till date, including police games at Lagos, said, “I dedicate my victory to God. It is God who is with me all the time and every where I wrestle.”

On his experience during the bout that many consider tough, he said, “He (opponent) was dragging my swiner (cloth), hitting my face; even my mouth, there is wound now. I was complaining, they said, I should not complain. I am from Bayelsa State and I know wrestling is from Bayelsa, so I must win any fight in this festival.”

His opponent, David Ogo from Yobe State who lost the fight blamed it all on tension, when accosted by our correspondent saying, “this match is about-you win or you loose but it’s just unfortunate (that I lost). It’s luck, game of luck-what made lost the fight – I loose focus; the tension was too much for me.
